Benthic Macroinvertebrate Communities

Historical benthic macroinvertebrate data demonstrate that conditions in Bear Creek have improved since the mid-1980s (Figure 1).
The benthic macroinvertebrate community at BCK 12.4 is the most impacted, with total richness and EPT richness below comparable reference communities.  The benthic macroinvertebrate communities improve with distance downstream, and BCK 3.3 has total richness and EPT richness in the range of reference sites.
