- Electrofishing: Backpack and boat elecrofishing
are commonly used fish collection methods. Backpack electroshockers are
used for streams and shallow rivers, where boat shockers are better suited
for rivers and lakes.

Seining and netting: Seines are used
for fish community studies where large numbers of fish need to be collected. Small nets are used for benthic macroinvertebrate and clams.
