Aquatic Toxicity Monitoring

Standard fathead minnow and Ceriodaphnia dubia toxicity tests were conducted at various locations throughout McCoy Branch from 1990-1993. In addition, physicochemical water quality factors were also investigated, including inspecting correlative relationships among conductivity, alkalinity, and hardness.

The fathead minnow tests provided no strong evidence for acute or chronic toxicity of water at any of the tested sites.
The results of the C. dubia tests also provided not strong evidence for toxicity.
During the early 1990s, the measured water quality factors were similar to uncontaminated reference streams on the Oak Ridge Reservation. However, these water quality measures do not provide evidence for or against the presence of toxicants.
