Ph.D. in physiology and pharmacology from Southern Illinois University in 1990 followed by post-doctoral research as an NIEHS Fellow at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Research interests and experiences include natural toxins, metabolism and disposition of xenobiotics, and hepatotoxicity.  Dr. Young also has extensive experience in quantitative risk assessment and chemical hazard evaluation, with a special emphasis on chemical warfare and riot control agents.  Dr. Young's publication record includes 35 abstracts, 30 peer-reviewed papers, co-authorship of five books, and numerous draft documents for the U.S. EPA, U.S. Army, and Air Force. Dr. Young is currently certified in General Toxicology by the American Board of Toxicology, is a full member in the Society of Toxicology, and is a past president of the Southeastern Chapter of the Society of Toxicology.
