Ph.D. in environmental toxicology from the University of Illinois 1972.  As a bench research scientist, he developed and participated in several laboratory microcosm studies on the environmental fates of pesticides, heavy metals in sewage sludge, industrial benzenoids, and coal gasification by-products. These results were correlated with the endogenous physico-chemical properties for predicting the potential of biomagnification of lipophilic organic compounds. Since joining the staff of Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1979, he has combined his research experience with expertise in information technology and management.
