Xia Lu received her Ph.D. in 2016 from Lanzhou University, China. Her Ph.D. research was focused on “Microbial transformation and interactions with uranium and mercury in the environment”. She joined the Mercury Science Focus Area (SFA) program as a visiting student, supported in part by the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), from November 2013 to 2015. Since December 2015, she was appointed as a research scholar, and her current work focuses on the mechanisms and geochemical controls on microbial mercury methylation and demethylation, which are of great importance to the fate and cycling of mercury in the environment.
