Work for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)

Since the 1980s, ESD staff members have assisted FERC in assessing the environmental impacts of existing and proposed hydroelectric developments and licensing actions.

Key issues have included potential impacts to slope and shoreline stability, water quality, quantity and uses, aquatic and terrestrial ecology (including threatened and endangered species), recreation and other land uses, visual resources, and cultural resources.

ESD staff members have assisted FERC with projects in Alabama, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, and Washington.
