Extraction and Injection Wells
At each transect, there are a series of extraction and injection wells. The extraction wells are responsible for removing groundwater from the transect and delivering water into the distribution system.
A submersible pump is added to each extraction well with a variable frequency drive for controlling proper flow rates. By adding a carbon substrate (lactate, emulsified oil, and ammonium phosphate) to the groundwater, the injection wells reinject the mixture into the geologic formation to create a reactive zone or barrier for the solvent plume. |
