Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture in 1976. Dr. Watson has performed or managed health assessments for numerous federal agencies, where she has gained expertise in the toxicology of chemical warfare agents and the application of these data to emergency preparedness planning. Recently, the research team she leads developed chemical warfare agent reference doses, acute exposure guideline levels for sulfur mustard and nerve agents, as well as vapor exposure and surface contact decision criteria for use in certifying site remediation and developing emergency response plans following chemical terrorist releases. She is the Team Leader and lead author of a recently published paper providing health-based clearance goals for airport remediation following chemical terrorist attack (HERA vol 17(1): 57-121; 2011); this paper was recognized as the Risk Management Paper of the Year 2011. Dr. Watson is presently a member of the the Peer Review Board on Toxicology of the U.S. Army Public Health Command (Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD) ; and has served on review panels for the National Academy' s Institute of Medicine, the National Research Council 's Board on Army Science and Technology, the DOD Office of Defense Research and Engineering, and the Editorial Board of Human and Ecological Risk Assessment. She has authored or co-authored over 100 articles and reports. Dr. Watson is also a fellow of The Academy of Toxicological Sciences, and a member of Sigma XI and AAAS.
