Laboratory Facilities

Aquatic Testing
The 2500 sq. foot aquatic ecology laboratory has a variety of experimental facilities, including temperature-controlled living streams and numerous fish-testing tanks and aquariums.
Medaka Cultivating and Testing
Japanese medaka and zebra fish are cultured in the medaka laboratory where their eggs and larvae are used for toxicity testing.
Biomolecular / Biochemical Analysis
Detoxification enzyme (P450) analysis and various blood chemical assays are conducted in the biomolecular/biochemical laboratory.
Genetic Testing
A variety of genetic studies, including the effects of contaminants on DNA integrity and on genetic diversity of fish populations, are conducted as a component of our bioindicator investigations.
Population Studies
The age and growth of fish populations are determined through the use of a video-imaging and automated digitizing system.
